Research focus is on development and support of weed management guidelines for conventional and herbicide-resistant field crops grown in conventional and no/zone-tillage cropping systems. Troublesome annual broadleaf weeds such as common ragweed and common lambsquarters receive special attention along with perennial weeds like dandelion. In addition to routine herbicide testing done in support of the guidelines in the Cornell Guide for Integrated Field Crop Management, effort is devoted to developing strategies to deal with weed population shifts, especially in no-tillage cropping systems, and to delay or prevent development of new herbicide-resistant weed populations in NY State.
