Dr. Epp is a rural scholar with expertise in farmland preservation, land use conflict, rural migration, cannabis production and northern agriculture. Much of her research focuses on planning for agri-food systems and how both rural communities and the agricultural sector demonstrate resilience and remain viable. Her work has examined the migration of Old Order Mennonites to northern Ontario, quantified farmland loss in southern Ontario and explored land use conflicts/nuisance complaints regarding agricultural practices and rural development.
