Sergio Garcia-Rios is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Government and the Latino Studies Program. His research focuses on Latino politics, race and ethnicity, and immigration. In particular, his research investigates the formation and transformation of Latino identities as well as the political implications of these transformations. He also studies voter turnout, political participation and public opinion, especially among Latino immigrants. Other academic interests include issues related to Latinos and the Voting Rights Act, border issues, and the politics of Mexico. His teaching interests include a variety of topics related to Latino politics, race and ethnicity, and political methodology.
