Bio/Research

We are interested in how plants modify their growth in response to environmental conditions. We are currently studying genes that modulate root responses to mechanical cues. By affecting the ability of roots to penetrate through the soil in search of water and nutrients, these responses bear directly on the fitness and productivity of the plant. This research is providing information that is valuable for the development of crop improvement strategies.
