Bio/Research

Soo-Eun Chang, Ph.D. CCC-SLP, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communicative Sciences and Disorders and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Radiology. Chang received her master’s degree and clinical training at Vanderbilt University, and received her doctoral degree at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, finishing a dissertation on brain anatomical differences in children who stutter using structural MRI (Diffusion Tensor Imaging, Voxel-Based Morphometry). Following her doctoral training, she became a research fellow at the Medical Neurology Branch of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), in the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Dr. Chang's current research uses functional and structural MRI techniques to examine neural bases of speech production, and neurophysiological bases of speech disorders such as stuttering with the long-term goal of finding neural targets for therapeutic intervention.
