Stephanie J. Creary, Ph.D. is an assistant professor of strategy at the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration (SHA) and a faculty fellow at the Cornell Institute for Healthy Futures. Her research bridges micro- and macro- level phenomena as well as disciplinary perspectives to address fundamental questions related to “organizing,” primarily how the experiences and actions of individuals and collectives relate to the broader functioning of organizations and the larger society. She is particularly interested in the meaning and identity dynamics that relate to social entrepreneurship and social innovation in the private sector, including how individuals and groups relate to one another and organizations at large under these conditions and how/whether related issues and tensions are addressed in ways that promote growth and understanding. She conducts research and mentors current and former students on related projects through her Meaning & Identity Lab.
