Neuman’s teaching interests are international relations, comparative foreign policy, security studies in developing nations, and international arms trade and defense production. Since 1981, she has directed Columbia’s Comparative Defense Studies Program. In addition, Neuman has consulted for the U.S. Department of State – she currently is a member of its Defense Trade Advisory Group – and the Agency for International Development, among other organizations.
