Bio/Research

Stuart Eimer received his doctorate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2000 and has been teaching at Widener University since fall 2000. He regularly teaches Introduction to Sociology and Unions & Society, as well as several service learning classes including Class Society, Poverty & Society, and a freshmen seminar titled Civic Engagement: Making a Difference in our Community. Eimer has served as chair of the Widener Sociology Department since 2005 and in 2012 he was appointed Coordinator of Academic Service Learning at Widener University.

His research focuses on organized labor in America, and he has published a number of scholarly articles on subjects related to the American labor movement. He was also an editor and contributor to a book on American labor titled Central Labor Councils and the Revival of American Unionism.
