Bio/Research

Svetlana Smirnov Ph.D., Adjunct Professor of Economics, holds an M.S. degree in Accounting from the University of Massachusetts, Boston; and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Economics from Saint-Petersburg State University, S-Petersburg, Russia. Her areas of concentration are in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and International Economics. At Merrimack College, she currently teaches Introduction to Economics.

Focusing her research primarily upon market behavior in a transition economy, Dr. Smirnov’s publications include: Classification of market behavior of an enterprise in modern Russia and Firm’s behavior in a transition economy, presented at the Russian scientific conferences “Perspectives of Russian economy” and “Economics science: theory, methodology and direction of development,” respectively. Investments in time of crises in Russian economy was given at the Russian Federation’s scientific conference “Investments in modern Russia” and Russian enterprises: Sources of financing, atthe “International scientific congress,” Saint-Petersburg.
