Dr. Garvin's primary research interests are at the intersections between health, communities, and environmental issues. She utilizes social science methods to investigate how people interact with their environments, how environments influence human health, and the role of space and place in people's constructions of nature. Dr. Garvin currently has a CIHR and SSHRC-funded research programme on aging in suburban environments in Canada's major prairie cities.
