Professor Morris' primary areas of specialization are Organizational Theory, Sociology of Reproduction and Birth, Political Sociology, and Sex and Gender. Her book, Cut It Out: The C-Section Epidemic in America, was published by New York University Press October, 2013. She is currently conducting an ethnographic project examining the role of labor and delivery nurses in supporting women during labor and delivery. She and her research assistants have completed over 200 hours of observations at a tertiary care hospital in Connecticut. Professor Morris is currently conducting ethnographic observations at a community hospital in Connecticut.
