Bio/Research

Verónica Martínez-Matsuda received her PhD in U.S. History from The University of Texas at Austin in December 2009. Her dissertation was awarded the Barnes F. Lathrop Prize for Best Dissertation in the Department of History (2010), it was also awarded “runner up” for the Best Dissertation Prize (2010) by the journal Labor History (Routledge). Prior to arriving at Cornell University’s ILR School, Dr. Martínez held fellowship positions at Bryn Mawr College, Rhodes College, and the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of American History. She is currently writing a book on the history of the U.S. Migratory Farm Labor Camp Program from a comparative ethno-racial and regional perspective.
