He was an Assistant Professor in Politics and Economics at RMC in the late 1990s before coming to Political Studies at Queen’s in 2001. His Ph.D. research was on the Kurdish question in Turkey. His most recent book is the 2010 UBC Press co-edited volume Locating Global Order: American Power and Canadian Security after 9/11, (with Bruno Charbonneau). He also has an interest in post-positivist and critical international relations theory -- for example, the co-edited (with Claire Turenne Sjolander) Beyond Positivism: Critical Reflections on International Relations (Lynne Rienner, 1994). He has also published on identity and globalization in the International Political Economy Yearbook series (Lynne Rienner, 1998), the Kurdish question, hegemony and world order, conflict in the Middle East, Canada/US defence relations, Canadian defence policy, and IR scholarship. When not researching or teaching, he has passions for kayaking, writing and recording music, and playing the guitar.
