I retired from corrections in 2003 after 30 years of progressive responsibility (Ontario and Alberta) including, roles as a:
-project coordinator for policy
-superintendent of many correctional facilities (both youth and adult and all levels of security)
-area manager of probation and parole
I obtained an MA in Social Community Psychology. My thesis was entitled, A Cognitive Approach to Discharge Planning for Offenders. I taught numerous management and teacher/trainer courses for Conestoga College from 1995 to 2002 and was an associate professor in Brock University's Adult Education from 2001 to 2003. From 2003 to 2012, I was chair of community safety and chair of social services at Conestoga College. During this period I was responsible for all programs for first responders, criminal justice and social service and developed the Community and Criminal Justice degree program.
I was also chair of the heads of community services for Ontario from 2008 to 2010. I have been with the Criminology program at Laurier since 2013, having taught a wide variety of courses, specializing in the introduction to the criminal justice system and psychology of crime.
