Dr. Hallett received his undergraduate and master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Waterloo in 1974 and 1977, and subsequently completed his doctorate in Chemical Engineering at Universität Karlsruhe, Germany, in 1981. He joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Ottawa in the same year.
Dr. Hallett’s research interests are in the general fields of combustion and energy conversion, with specific projects in bio-fuels, solid and liquid fuel combustion, packed beds, and liquid mixtures. He has won four teaching awards, including a 3M Fellowship (1994 ) and an OCUFA (Ontario Confederation of University Faculty Associations) award (1989).
