Dr. Murray has been fascinated by people as well as the service experience, originating from his years working within the hospitality industry. An award-winning teacher, he continually tries to blend academic rigour with real-life skills and abilities so that students can experience success in their chosen field of work.
Being ever-curious about people, his research currently falls into two core areas: the human experience in business and individual meanings construction in everyday life.
He has an ongoing research program that explores employee motivations at work and the relationship to both successful customer satisfaction and perceived value. He's also conducted research into how individuals construct plausible meanings during times of disruption, including within the continually changing landscape of postsecondary education.
He's also deeply fascinated by the evolving nature of technology and human interactions, including social media, mobile applications, and technology-guest experiences interfaces
