Research in Dr. Xu’s laboratory focuses on lipid biochemistry and biotechnology in terrestrial plants and microalgae. Her lab uses state-of-the-art approaches in genetics, biochemistry, synthetic biology and biotechnology to explore the mechanisms underlying lipid assembly in photosynthetic organisms and to engineer lipid biosynthetic pathways in order to produce value-added oils for food, feed, fuel, and materials applications.
