While my current research interest is union behaviors, the area of industrial relations is much broader. In a nutshell, the subject matter of industrial relations researchers is employment relationship. It is a broad area that offers many intellectual challenges.In the past six years, I have focused on public sector union reactions to government austerity measures in Alberta and Ontario. In 1993, the newly elected Progressive Conservative government in Alberta, under the leadership of Ralph Klein, undertook the “Klein Revolution.” Another interest of mine is the relationship between total quality management and downsizing.
